I was privileged to take a part in a beautiful project commemorating 11 fallen soldiers and 3 nova dancers.
I was completely randomly assigned to a family to work with them on the mural.
I was completely thrown off when i heard the name omer balva. It hit close to home.
Omer was student where i work at HSI
I didnt have a chance to meet him (i wasnt working there at the time) but i have been teaching his school who we partner with - CESJDS
So when we got the news. The entire school felt it and morned
Omer made Aliyah and became a combat soldier in the golani brigade he finished his service honourably. On oct 7, omer was in the US visiting, immediately got on a plane back to israel, got in to uniform and head out the northern border with lebanon. On oct 20th omer was hit by an rpg missile and we lost him.
Since then Omer's family has been keeping omer in our lives bringing his kindness and attitude in small reminders. @bekind_as_omer_balva
I was lucky to meet the family and i even did a live interview about it on channel i24 with his older sister shahar
Im so happy that the family loved to final outcome
Im so sad this is our world happening to us
